Fall trout stockings are back the weeks of October 21 and October 28 and better than ever before. During these two weeks, the WVDNR will stock more than 40,000 pounds of trophy-size and monster trout at more than 40 lakes and streams around the state.
Of that total, 35,000 pounds of trout weighing 1-2 pounds and 6,500 pounds of monster trout weighing 3-6 pounds will be stocked. Out of the monster trout, 100 spectacular fish will have a tag that can be redeemed for a prize. Keep scrolling to learn more or view the official contest rules!

- Catch a tagged monster trout.
- Snap a photo of your catch & record the tag number.
- Submit all required information in the form below.
WHAT CAN I WIN?
If you’re one of the lucky anglers that catches a tagged monster trout, submit this form to be entered to win a prize and be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing where one lucky angler will win a weekend cabin stay at a West Virginia State Park and four other winners will win a Cabela’s prize package! In addition, one monster trout will be specially tagged by the Governor. Catch it and meet our eligibility requirements and you could win a free lifetime fishing license. All anglers 15 years and older are required to have a West Virginia fishing license and a valid form of identification while fishing. Licenses are valid through the entire calendar year. Whether you’re looking to come for the day or stay for a week, there’s a West Virginia fishing license for you.
