Imagine your wildlife painting hanging on walls across the state and being enjoyed by people all year. Talk about an artist’s dream come true!
If you’re an artist who’s painted popular game or fish species, or other West Virginia wildlife such as snakes, frogs, turtles, salamanders, bats, songbirds, small mammals or non-game fish, you can submit your work to be chosen for the 2021 West Virginia Wildlife Calendar.
Each year, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources selects 12 paintings to be featured in its award-winning calendar, which also includes interesting animal facts and tips to help you enjoy the outdoors.
If you have a painting you’d like to be considered, you can send a high resolution copy to the following address: WV Division of Natural Resources, Wildlife Calendar Art, P.O. Box 67, Elkins, WV, 26241. Electronic images also are accepted, and may be emailed to Jessica.N.Swecker@wv.gov.
Submissions are due by February 17, 2020.
The calendar format is horizontal at 14 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. You should keep this ratio in mind when choosing paintings. You can send in multiple paintings. If you have questions, call 304-637-0245.
Paintings will be chosen based on overall composition, quality and anatomical and contextual accuracy. Artists whose painting is selected will receive an award.
