In advance of the holiday shopping season, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is reminding hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts to purchase their copy of the 2022 West Virginia Wildlife Calendar while supplies last.

The popular and award-winning calendar is available to purchase online and at retail outlets and WVDNR offices around the state. A mail-order option also is available. Calendars sell for $10 each, plus tax and shipping.

“If you love the outdoors, enjoy hunting or fishing, are passionate about wildlife conservation or if you really love West Virginia, this calendar has something for you,” said Scott Warner, assistant chief for the WVDNR’s wildlife diversity section.

This year’s calendar features full-color paintings of state animal and fish species, such as rainbow trout, white-tailed deer, monarch butterfly, timber rattlesnake and American robin. It also includes brief descriptions of each animal, fishing facts, tips for enjoying the outdoors and articles about WVDNR projects.

“For all these years, this calendar is one of the ways the DNR is helping people enjoy the abundant wildlife and beautiful natural resources we have here in West Virginia,” Warner said.

Sales of the calendar help fund the WVDNR Wildlife Resources Section’s education programs.

“If you attend a program where a wildlife biologist talked about snakes in West Virginia or if you’re a teacher who got an educational box from the DNR, you benefit from the money we make from this calendar,” Warner said.
