WVDNR celebrates 40th anniversary edition of award-winning calendar

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) announced today that the 2025 West Virginia Wildlife Calendar is now available to purchase online and in stores around the state.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the WVDNR publishing the popular calendar, which helps fund important Wildlife Resources Section programs. Calendars can be purchased online at WVstateparks.com.

“For 40 years, the West Virginia Wildlife Calendar has showcased the beauty and diversity of our state’s natural resources and played a pivotal role in helping the WVDNR fulfill its mission to educate people about West Virginia’s fish and wildlife species,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion. “With stunning artwork and essential information, this year’s calendar is once again a must-have for hunters, anglers and wildlife enthusiasts. We encourage everyone to get a copy and enjoy the best of West Virginia’s wildlife all year round.”

The West Virginia Wildlife Calendar features beautiful paintings of state animals, important hunting and fishing dates, peak wildlife activity times and articles that will help people get the most out of their outdoor adventures in 2025. Wildlife paintings featured in this year’s calendar include:

  • Groundhog by Shelby Oreolt (February)
  • Red-shouldered Hawk by Matt Tomko (March)
  • Opossum Mom and Babies by Misty Murray-Walkup (April)
  • Goldfinch by Christine Clayton (May)
  • Largemouth Bass by David Kiehm (June)
  • Blue-winged Teal by Christine Clayton (July)
  • Black Bear by David Kiehm (August)
  • American Toad by Rebecca Wilson (September)
  • Box Turtle and Woodcock (October)
  • Fisher by William Kline (November)
  • Elk by Dinah McCloud (December)

Calendars are $15 each and usually sell out before Christmas, so those who want a copy are encouraged to buy one while supplies last. The easiest way to purchase a calendar is to place an order online. Visit WVstateparks.com, click “Merchandise” at the top of the page and follow the onscreen prompts. 

Calendars also may be purchased at select stores around the state. Bulk orders of the wildlife calendar are available while supplies last.
