Natural Resources Police Officer

Applications will be accepted once a Physical Agility Test (PAT) date has been established (see available dates below). If no PAT dates have been established, fill out the applicant information here, enter your contact information on the form and you will be contacted once PAT dates have been set. Applicants must successfully pass the required physical agility test to proceed in the hiring process. Applicants must also complete a psychological evaluation and meet the medical requirements as stated in the Law Enforcement Standards.

PAT Requirements

All PAT sessions are listed below. Applicants should bring clothes for swimming and for running. REPORT PROMPTLY. A written test will be required for those who pass the PAT at a later date.

  • Upper Body Strength – Must be able to complete 18 properly executed push-ups within one minute.
  • Aerobic Power (1.5 Mile Run) – Must be able to complete the 1.5 mile run within 14 minutes, 36 seconds.
  • Muscular Endurance – Must be able to complete 28 properly executed sit-ups within one minute.
  • Swimming Test – Must be able to swim 37.5 yards fully clothed. Candidates should bring long pants and a shirt for the fully clothed swimming test and a change of clothing for the running test.

Following the PAT testing dates below, the West Virginia Division of Personnel written exam will be administered at the WVDNR Headquarters, 324 4th Avenue, South Charleston, 25303 on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024. Written testing begins promptly at 11 AM.
