SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.VA. — The West Virginia Natural Resources Commission has called a special virtual meeting on Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. This meeting is being held to make a technical correction in the fishing regulations for sauger and saugeye creel and possession limits for 2024.

  1. Review action taken by the Natural Resources Commission during their meeting on Aug. 6, 2023, and vote on the following technical correction to the daily creel and possession limit for sauger and saugeye.

The Division of Natural Resources proposes to establish an 8-fish daily creel and 16-fish possession limit for sauger and saugeye in any combination on all rivers and lakes of the state, except as provided by special regulations and noted below.

The daily creel limit in aggregate for walleye, sauger, and saugeye is six and the possession limit is 12, four of which may be walleye, on the Ohio River between the states of Ohio and West Virginia and from the mouth of the Kanawha River in Mason County upstream to the Winfield Lock and Dam, provided only two of the six may be walleye.
