News Release: May 6, 2021

EVANS, WV – Rollins Lake in Jackson County will be temporarily closed to fishing and other activities in mid-May due to upgrades to the dam and other areas, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) announced. The nearby fishing access site on Mill Creek will also be closed during construction.

The upgrades, which are expected to take six months to complete, include improvements to the access road, parking area, spillway, fisherman’s trail and handicap fishing pier. The project also includes installation of a boat dock near the existing boat ramp. Signs about the closure will be posted in affected areas. The lake is part of the Rollins Lake Wildlife Management Area.

WVDNR does not anticipate 2022 trout fishing to be affected at the lake. However, if unforeseen circumstances result in a winter shutdown and delayed completion of the project, the agency will issue an updated news release. For more information about the closure, contact the WVDNR District 6 office in Parkersburg at 304-420-4550.
