Q. When is Coyote season?

A. Coyotes may be hunted year round.

Q. Can coyotes be hunted at night with artificial lighting?

A. Hunting coyotes at night using any color artificial light or night vision technology, including image intensification, thermal imaging or active illumination, is legal all year.

A. Coyote hunting at night with artificial lights is legal on private property Sept. 1 to Dec. 31 as long as the hunter notifies the local Natural Resources Police Officer or District Office during working hours and gets approval. Hunters must provide their name, the landowner’s name and hunting location.

Q. What weapons can be used to hunt coyotes at night?

A. Firearms legal for night coyote hunting are shotguns with No. 2 or smaller shot and rifles and handguns of .22 caliber centerfire or smaller, .22 caliber rimfire and air rifles of .22 caliber.

Additionally, during closed small game seasons, coyotes may only be hunted in open fields.

Electronic calls are legal.

There is no daily, annual or season bag limit on coyotes.
