Featured Speaker

Lisa M. Rose, MPA

Lisa M. Rose, MPA is an ethnobotanist, anthropologist, and author of Midwest Foraging and Midwest Medicinal Plants (Timber Press), both widely celebrated as essential guides for wild foods and traditional plant knowledge. Her career bridges cultural storytelling and ecological advocacy—from working alongside Alice Waters at The Edible Schoolyard to championing regenerative agriculture and water rights across North America.

With roots in Michigan’s fruit belt and current research stretching from New York City to East Anglia, Lisa’s work explores humanity’s relationship to landscape through the lens of foraging, memory, and ritual. She is presently researching Anglo-Saxon ethnobotany and the ceremonial role of autumn foods like acorns in early medieval England.

Whether guiding a wild foods walk or leading a hands-on acorn workshop, Lisa invites her audiences into a more intimate relationship with the living world—using foraging as a pathway to resilience, healing, and joy.
